With an international reputation for award-winning editorial design and visual identity, Santana’s work includes the design and redesign of publications across the world.
→ His work has been awarded and recognized several times by the The Society for News Design, European Newspapers Award, Esso, SIP and others. He has also served as a judge for The Best of Newspaper Design Creative Competition (SND) in New York.Santana is currently Art Director at Axel Springer AG in Germany (a publishing company that owns more than 230 publications around the world).
He was Art Director at Correio Braziliense (Brasilia, Brazil), where he redesigned the newspaper’s cover, in addition to leading other initiatives.
In the past, as Art Director of the Spanish sports daily Marca, (launched in Brazil), he created the graphic project of the publication and worked on the development of different magazines for the group.
At O Dia, from Rio de Janeiro, he develop the graphic project for the online editions, integrated the team that made the redesign of the newspaper, and created the graphic project of the section Digital&Tal (awarded 8 times by the Society for News Design).
→ Santana has made different contributions in different publications from Europe, South America and Middle East. He began his career as Designer of the Int. Formation Centre of O’Higgins (Buenos Aires – Argentina). At times, Saulo lectures around the world about news design, infographics and typography.
